Churches and SynagoguesWe are most grateful to the members of the following churches and synagogues in our area for their generous support. Each congregation included on this list has partnered with Habitat by sending groups of volunteers to help with construction, by making a cash contribution, or by hosting the Global Village team in October 2006 or some combination of all three. We are most grateful to the members of the Federated Church for their support and for allowing us to have many of our meetings at their church. On Saint Patrick's Day - Saturday, March 17, 2007 the Men's Fellowship sponsored a corned beef and cabbage dinner with the proceeds of $576 going to Habitat. Bob Carpenter, and the members of the First Baptist Church for hosting a delicious dinner for the Global Village team on Tuesday evening, October 17, 2006 and for inviting us back to make a presentation about Habitat to members of the church on Sunday, October 22nd. The church also provided a lunch for the Global Village Team in the spring of 2008, and a group worked on the West Rupert home in the spring of 2008. Rev. Bob Carpenter First Baptist Church of South Londonderry - "A Community Church" The Londonderry Junior High Youth Group demonstrated their commitment to the community by spending part of their spring break in April of 2006 doing yard work in the area to raise funds for the home that will be built in Winhall - starting in mid August 2006. They plan to come to the site this some day this fall and will help with the construction. We are most grateful to Rev. Hamblett and the members of the church for providing a delicious lunch for the Global Village team during their visit - October 16, 2006. Rev. Malcolm Hamblett First Congregational Church - Manchester Our vibrant congregation welcomes you to worship with us and to take part in our many activities. We are followers of Jesus Christ who seek to emulate His way, truth and life in the world. We are a diverse community of faith, drawing together folk from many religious traditions and various parts of the country. At present we have over 300 adult members and 60 children. We offer children's programming throughout the year, including nursery care, Sunday school and fellowship groups for our 5th-12th graders.
We are most grateful to the church for allowing us to host the farewell dinner and celebration that concluded the Global Village week (October 15 - 22, 2006). It was a perfect setting and was much appreciated. We are also thankful to the church for allowing us to use a room for our monthly board meetings. In early June, the church hosted Millard Fuller, founder of Habitat for Humanity. Many of our volunteers were inspired to hear him speak and to meet him. 255 North Street United Church of Dorset and East Rupert UCC
Members of the Dorset Church helped with the Winhall home on Saturday, November 11th (photo montage above). They brough trim boards that had been cut to fit and had been routed by a group from the church before in Brian Decesare's workshop. They did a great job. Members of the Dorset Church helped build the home in East Arlington (above right) in December of 2004.
A group from the church helped with the Rupert home in June 2007. We are most grateful to Rev. Gray and to the members of the Dorset Church for all the help they gave us in hosting the Global Village team during the week of October 15 to 22 2006. Rev. Gray led the group on a special hike on Wednesday afternoon. And we used the church van to transport the team to and from the Winhall site. They helped again in the spring of 2007 and 2008. Rev.
