May this house shelter your life.

When you come in home here,

May all the weight of the world

Fall from your shoulders.

22 Asa's Way, North Bennington

The photo of this home on Asa's Way, North Bennington, was taken in early November 2009. The Siegrist family moved in over the weekend after Thanksgiving.

"We have so many stories to tell and we haven't even moved in yet.  We've prayed for many years for a home of our own. We've never had such a blessing bestowed on our family." Spoken by Patrick Siegrist at the home dedication - November 15, 2009. Update - I would love to share some news about life in our new home!... It's sinking in a lil' bit more, since we've paid our first mortgage payment, utility bills, fuel, trash removal and snow plowing... haha! The joy!... "We love it and we're still in awe over what God has provided for us, and will be eternally grateful to everyone involved!

Patrick Siegrist

192 Route 153, West Rupert - Completed October 2008

Lewis Road, Rupert - Completed September 2007

This home in Rupert, Vermont was started on April 28, 2007 and was dedicated in August 2007. Over 170 different people worked at least 4 hours to build this home.

"We always said that we knew we could build a house if we got a bunch of friends and family together.  And that is exactly what we did.  We were able to build a home with people who became our friends, and then became like family. Waking up every morning is a blessing that will continue
to amaze and uplift us 20 years from now.  "
George and Kelli Lewis - August 2007

Jenks Road, Winhall - Completed January 2007

Winhall home - started August 19th and dedicated - January 7, 2007.

"What a whirlwind of a year 2006 has been for our family.  First, we were blessed with a wonderful Christmas gift a year ago when Habitat called us to let us know that we were going to be their next Habitat partner. Then, during the next year, we encountered exactly what being a partner was. A community came together and helped us build our dream, and we are now living in this dream and in its warmth and openness. This home will never be just a home, but the end and beginning of framework put together with caring, love, happiness and countless amounts of new friends who we will never forget.

We will never look at the word community in the same way again.  Habitat for Humanity becomes an addiction; once you have worked side by side with such wonderful giving people (not only the ones you work with at the work site, but those also behind the scenes that you may meet only once and in some cases not at all). The hard work from so many people goes deep in appreciation. We knew they wanted it for us as much as we did. We have our home, a wonderful beautiful home, and if you are in our neighborhood, please stop by and see just what you have created.”

Thank you ever so much,

Brian, Christine, Ryan and Daniel Jenks

Daniels Road - Shaftsbury - Completed January 2006

"When Rich asked me if I would like to be a Habitat partner, I stood there in my kitchen shaking like a leaf. I got off the phone with him and said “thank you, God, for taking care of us.” I remember crying because I was so happy. I think that was one of the happiest days of my life up until today.”

Cindy Drake speaking at the dedication.

East Arlington Road, East Arlington - Completed June 2005

Dear Friends and Family,

How do I thank you for building us a home? How do I tell you all what it means to my family and me? My heart feels like it may burst with happiness when I pull into the driveway. I walk in the door and I am amazed at how beautiful our house is.

At the dedication, volunteer Fred Hilliard, presented Ruth and her family a Habitat bird house, complete with the new Habitat logo. Ruth send us a video clip of the happy new home owners! Click to see the video. You need to have a video player on your computer.

As a single parent, I did not think owning a home was going to be possible. But you all donated your time, materials and talents to make it a reality. You are terrific people; thank you all for living the “Good Life. From our home and our hearts we sincerely thank you,

Love, Ruth, Nicole, and Gabe

112 Morgan Street - Bennington - Completed winter of 2004

We renovated this home in Bennington, Vermont.

September 15, 2004

Well, it has been almost one full year in my new home and sometimes it still amazes me that this wonderful property belongs to me. I smile every time I walk up onto my deck and look at my back yard, listen to the stream below and then open my back door.

Last winter I had to shovel my driveway for the first time. I had the biggest smile on my face. Never in my life would I have guessed that I would be so happy to shovel snow. It is amazing the power of ownership.

The dedication and faith of the board members, the volunteers and all those in between is something to be admired and respected, for if it were not for your belief in the cause and your belief in me, I would not have this wonderful home.

To all those who have spent Saturdays giving so much of their time for this project, projects before mine, and to all the future endeavors to come, I have the utmost respect and admiration for you. Without people like you, I would not live at 112 Morgan Street.

Thank you. Charlene Pleasant

Andrews Lane, East Arlington

Complete - June 2003

272 County NY Road 61, Jackson, New York - Completed - Fall 2001
Special thanks to all of the wonderful Habitat for Humanity volunteers that made our house a dream come true. Owning your won home builds confidence, pride and a feeling of belonging all of which are so important in life, especially for young children. I have watched my children’s attitudes change for the better day by day; they are proud of their home and of themselves for being able to say that this is our house! Words barely express what the Habitat for Humanity program has done for us. We are and will continue to be forever grateful. Marti, Nate, Leia, Ash and Christian Clark

425 Swallow Hill, Pownal - Completed 1999

To say this has been a special year for us is an understatement. At the heart of the home is a 2 X 4 stud, which has been autographed by many of the individuals and families who have supported the building of this home through their contributions of money, time, and sweat. These people understand that a home is one of the greatest human needs; it is a human need which they care very much about.

Over the past year, we have had the pleasure of meeting and working alongside many of these people who translate their caring into action. To them and to many of the people we have not met: the bankers, the lawyers, contractors, corporate leaders, home makers, and the anonymous donors who worked behind the scenes to make this dream a reality, we would like to say “thank you!” Fred and Doreen Miller
