BeFunky BeFunky B&w 1-webMeet the Lewis Family and see photos of the build from start to finish.

In May of 2011, our Board of Directors selected Michelle and Randy Lewis of Manchester, to be our first family partners to live on Jennifer Lane in Manchester.  Michelle and Randy have one son, Aiden, age 8 and were blessed with their second child, Gracie, who was born on July 21, 2011!

Participation, excitement and anticipation have highlighted the lives of Randy, Michelle and Aiden Lewis since their selection as a Habitat family in June, 2011.  Little Gracie, born in July will be a big beneficiary - a (lavender) room of her own in a home on Jennifer Lane in Manchester, the first of 11 Habitat homes to be built at this site.  Lots better than sharing a room with Mom and Dad.

Randy works for Mettowee Mill Nursery, but has brought much time and talent to the building of his new home - from helping clear the lot, to digging the foundation hole, to framing up the shed, hammering, spackling, grouting, painting, and lastly, doing the final grading and landscaping.  If you engage him about Nascar Racing, he will be your friend forever. (Of course, only if he agrees with you!)

Michelle is a care giver at the Northshire Day School and at home.  She's been very focused on decision making - colors, fixtures, faucets, flooring, appliances, closet space, storage space and has worked alongside all the volunteers at her new home.

While Aiden, age 7, is not able to help build on a Habitat project yet, he is extremely excited, informed and possessive about what is happening there.  A second grader at MEMS, Aiden is now wearing his red belt that he recently earned at the Martial Arts Academy, likes music and is thinking about how much of a sliding hill he can make out of the septic mound behind his house.

Eight month old Gracie grabs your heart instantly... welcoming, smiling and comfortable with anyone who wants to give her attention.  What a flirt already!  Add a new yellow lab puppy, Jacks, and the loooong-time family cat, Bud (she's 20 years old!), and this is one very excited family waiting to move into 215 Jennifer Lane.

The Lewis' both grew up in the area and attended local schools. They enjoy camping in the summer... but, this year, that activity might just take place on the back deck of their new home. This family are true ambassadors for BAHfH and we welcome them as our first Jennifer Lane family.

The Lewis home was dedicated on May 6, 2012, and they are happily living in their new home.

October 2011 -
Photo - left - Aiden Lewis pounds his first nail for his home.  He was more than just a little bit excited.  The ice and snow made a real challenge for us.  We had to scrape off the ice from the joists and then had to melt and dry each joist before we could glue the decking to the joists.  It was a challenge, but we managed to get it done.

Gracie's photo, left, was taken in May 2012.  She is totally into the Habitat spirit!  It won't be long before she comes, hammer in hand, to help build her niegbhbor's homes on Jennifer Lane!
