NORTH BRANCH STREET

BENNINGTON

Bennington Area Habitat for Humanity purchased 296 North Branch Street in March 2015.  The house was in foreclosure and in such disrepair that it was demolished by Onorato Excavating in October 2015.

In December 2015, Bennington Area Habitat purchased 334 North Branch Street.  The back of this lot is adjacent to 296 North Branch Street.  We began rehab work on the house at 334 North Branch Street in early January 2016 and dedicated it with the King family on May 22, 2016.

In February 2016, Bennington Area Habitat purchased the final piece of the puzzle - a tiny lot and trailer at 320 North Branch Street.  Onorato Excavating demolished the trailer in early May 2016.  The lot sits between 296 and 334 North Branch Street.  With these three contiguous lots, Bennington Area Habitat will be able to build six new single-family houses in partnership with Habitat qualified homebuyers.  In fact, we have started our first new house at 296 North Branch Street.

The North Branch Street development will be home to seven partner families.  Each of these homebuyers will pay an affordable, interest-free mortgage.  They will move in to safe, energy efficient houses.  They will be homeowners with all the opportunities that homeownership brings - strength, stability and self-reliance.
