CommitteesAuction Committee - We held our first auction in July 2007 on the grounds of A Safe Place, a storage facility located in East Dorset. We are now planning for our next auction and welcome anyone who has ideas and is willing to help with some of the related projects - from public relations - accepting donations - help with setting up on the day of the auction and many others. Please contact Bill Hoyt for more information. Rosalie Bischof Cliff Bebee - Project Manager Community Relations Committee – This committee is responsible for creating greater awareness of Habitat's mission and our efforts, in particular, to help create more opportunities for "affordable" housing in our part of Vermont. In particular, this committee plans for all of public relations activities including press releases, events (home dedications, annual meeting, and strategic planning), printed materials, quarterly newsletters, power point presentations, outreach and presentations to groups (schools, service organizations, faith communities), and the web site. To find out more use the email addresses that listed below. Elise Anton –Co-chair Development Committee – It currently costs between $75,000 to $80,000 to purchase land and to pay for building supplies and services that are not donated. To realize our goal of building two homes a year we need to raise the equivalent of $160,000 in value a year. This committee is responsible for coordinating all fund raising activities. To find out more use the email address that is listed below. Rosalie Bischof Family Selection/Support Committee – This committee is responsible for conducting a search, selecting Habitat families, and for assigning and supervising support partners. Every Habitat family is supported in all aspects of home ownership from the time of selection through the end of the first year of home ownership. Judy Boehlert Finance Committee - This committee is responsible for monitoring all expenses. It prepares an annual budget that serves as a planning tool and works with each committee chair to insure that we make the best use of limited funds. Harry Chandler Site Committee - This committee is actively seeking 'open land' for new construction and/or properties to be renovated for future Habitat homes in Bennington County. Donated properties are most appreciated, and may be used as a tax deduction by the donor. Foreclosed properties and those that are about to go into foreclosure would be most welcome. If we could help someone out, it would in turn be a helping hand-up to another family. To get more details please contact the Site Chair at the email address or phone that is listed below. Thank You! Bonnie Lawrence - Chairperson (802) 362-4949 Volunteer Coordination – All groups that wish to help build should contact us ahead of time to schedule a time and to match the group’s skills with the work that is planned for a specific day. Other groups or individuals might like to help with a project or task that does not take place at the construction site. Please contact Kathy Malley Website - We welcome feedback and suggestions for improvements. |
